Can J. Büyükaşık, M.D.
I am a double board-certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist and psychotherapist, licensed in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. My expertise in the use of various psychotherapies (talk therapy) and psychotropics (psychiatric medications) allows me to tailor treatments to you or your child's individualized needs and goals.
I have extensive experience in working with all ages, families and parent-infant dyads; various psychotherapies including psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT, DBT, MBT, CPP among others; and judicious use of medications in the management of complex psychiatric issues. I provide comprehensive and individualized care whether you are looking for ways to understand yourself and overcome longstanding issues, seeking a diagnosis and the management for your symptoms, or diligent psychiatric care for your child.
You will be asked to fill a consultation request form, and expect a brief phone call to discuss options and scheduling.
My approach entails a person-centered practice, meaning we take into account your whole self, goals, aspirations, needs and your life circumstances, and not just your symptoms or problems. Together, we will tailor an individualized approach to help you, your child or your family to create opportunities to gain a deeper understanding of yourselves and to develop your unique and lasting toolkit to deal with current and future challenges.
Our work starts with an initial consultation to carefully tailor the most suitable approach for your goals and needs.
I offer a wide range of treatment options. In addition to a wide range of psychotherapies for all ages, individuals, dyads or families, I have extensive experience in the use of psychiatric medications in all age groups.
